The crunch has begun! I am with plokk at my place and we’re gonna finish most of the demo during this weekend. Since we have a very enjoyable 30 degrees Celsius (87 degrees F) in here, a lot of drinks are needed to keep things rolling. The music for the demo was finished some weeks ago by leaphion so all we have to do is get the graphical stuff done.
We have recently started working on a demo for the Assembly 2008. This year we have a bit simpler plans because we want to avoid the failure last year. It is now exactly 264 hours before the deadline so there is not much time to waste. More details about the project later..
I forgot to mention that we haven’t been completely idle lately. We spent a week doing a quick GP2X production for Breakpoint 2008. Below is the video of the party version which has some glitches and incomplete parts. I recommend downloading the final version:
Okay, it seems the Xbox360 project has been and will be on hold for a very very long time. I decided to release some shots of it as it was in July 2007. If we ever get this thing finished it might even be on a totally different platform.
Some status updates. TMDC came and went and we didn’t get our demo finished so it might be released later. There will be a big bunch of demos for this year. We are currently working on a demo on a familiar platform and another one on a completely new for us.
We haven’t forgotten the Xbox360 demo.. It will need some redesign and a complete rewrite.
The XNA team have released the 2.0 beta. I haven’t touched our XNA demo code after Assembly but I have been planning starting the work on it sometime in the beginning of the year 2008.
For a different kind of coding project, I recommend textmode demos. 80×50 resolution with 16 colors means a lot of CPU power per pixel. For rules etc check out the official website. The deadline is on the 12th of December.
Check out our last year’s production below or download it (for Windows).
The next version of XNA game studio has been announced. There’s a bunch of improvements and it will be interesting to see it in action later this year.
In the meanwhile the XNA demo will be on hold and I’m planning doing something with the GP2X again. Also, TMDC again in November!
It has been a few days after the Assembly. After the initial disappointment we now feel it was a good choice not to release the unfinished and ugly version. We’ve done it before and we really don’t want to do it again :)
I really recommend checking out the other XNA entries:
